Are you looking for great activities to do in Belgium during the Fall Break? We’ve got what you need!
Here is a non-exhaustive list of places open to the public across the country that are just waiting for you!
When is it the best time to enjoy the Belgian coast? In November of course! And if you like street art, Ostend is the destination of your holiday! The city is a huge open-air gallery that you can discover thanks to The Crystal Ship. Follow the guide with your smartphone via Messenger and go find those masterpieces!
Not a big fan of urban art? No problem, let’s discover the fauna and flora of the Belgian coast at the Zwin Provincial Nature Park. Just a stone’s throw away from Knokke, the Zwin plain is considered to be the “international bird airport”. During the holidays, the park is open every day so that you can enjoy the cabin trail and the plain. Make the most of it!
PS: Don’t forget to bring your binoculars to observe the migratory birds!
On November 11th, we will commemorate the Armistice. The perfect occasion to relive the history of the First World War by visiting the trenches in and around Ypres.
Did you know that you can also visit the trenches in virtual reality with our Flybox experience? Come and try Flybox as soon as Imagine Belgium reopens its doors!
With its 4,400 hectares, the Soignes Forest is a natural setting close to Brussels. Ideal for short and long walks, venture out with your family along the forest paths.
Our advice ? Take tram no. 44 (direction Tervuren). You will love travelling through this enchanted forest.
Take a trip back in time, to the Middle Ages! The remains of the Château de Franchimont near Liège are a real 11th century treasure to explore. Children from 6-7 years old love to have fun in the ruins and pretend to become knights!
About twenty sculptures of Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon have been installed in the Abbey of Villers-la-Ville. The opportunity to (re)discover this monumental abbey, during an open-air exhibition dedicated to Folon.
Psst! Do you like abbeys? So do we! Don’t miss visiting the ruins of Orval Abbey. The Abbey is open for holidays, but we still advise you to call before your visit.
Another castle is still open, and not the least! The Château de Bouillon invites you to outdoor activities and especially to a superb falconry show. Something for the whole family to enjoy! Take advantage of it, it’s open until November 15th (November 11th for falconry shows!).
We hope you enjoyed this selection of unusual excursions and original activities to do during Fall Break. Fingers crossed it will brighten up your holiday in this particular time. This list is obviously not exhaustive.
